Summary: This book is one of the best books on short term discretionary trading setups. Clear rules and actual examples provided to illustrate the points. It is not a book giving you mechanical trading systems to copy from. Should be required reading for all daytraders. Highly recommended.

Inside Out: An Insider’s Account of Wall Street by Dennis B. Levine and William Hoffer
Posted by: | CommentsSummary: A first person account of one of the very famous insider trading scandals in the 1980s. The perspective is interesting as it exposed the behind the door scenes on how deals were made. The dynamics that happen around a deal from the people involved, to the wild swings in the stock prices and the frenzies with the media is well worth studying. I consider this book something to reflect on – if you were in his shoes, can you resist the temptations?

Inside Out: An Insider’s Account of Wall Street |
Summary: Good book on the subject with reasonably clear explanation. College level math a requirement to read the book. Not a book for traders in general. More like a book for academics interested in analyzing market behaviours from afar.

Elliott Wave Principle: Key To Market Behavior by A.J. Frost and Robert R. Prechter
Posted by: | CommentsSummary: The book that defines the Elliott Wave technical analysis method. The concepts presented in the book and the supposed confirmation of the principle by the example charts do not follow the principle of scientific method. Elliott Wave is not proved (nor disproved) to be useful for trading by the book although many people may be misled otherwise. I cannot recommend this book.

Elliott Wave Principle: Key To Market Behavior |
Summary: Good book with clear trading rules. Many statistics and actual examples are there to explain what the trading setups are trying to accomplish. Not a book for beginners as the information provided are quite technical in nature. The language used can be offending to people who cannot put down their ego to see what the other side of the game has been doing to take their money.

Investment Secrets of a Hedge Fund Manager: Exploiting the Herd Mentality of the Financial Markets |
Summary: Great introduction to trading system design. Not too complex, not too dry. Detail enough to be the text book on trading system design if it were used in a college degree course. The examples in the book are easy to understand even if you are not using TradeStation. Some statistics background necessary. Highly recommended as the introductory text for anyone interested in developing mechanical trading models.

Beyond Technical Analysis: How to Develop and Implement a Winning Trading System, 2nd Edition |
Summary: This is a short book taking on the word strategy with humour. I have seen so many books written on the topic of trading strategies with huge diversity in their content that I cannot help but wonder what the word strategy really means. It is a fun read for those who question the very concept of stragegy. Thus this book is going to disappoint those who look for table pounding, out of breath shouting materials on what strategy should be.

Principles by Ray Dalio
Posted by: | CommentsSummary: Not your usual trading book because 1. it is written by Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater Associates, the worlds largest hedge fund; 2. It is a way to live and think where trading success will be the manifestation or outcome if you choose to; 3. It is so controversial some people call this the manual of a cult. Highly recommended.
