The Lawrence Chan Blog
I have diverse interest in many things from science and technology to martial arts and ancient health practices. Obviously, discussion of these topics should be done within my own blog as oppose to keeping them here. Hence my blog is created so that I can have a venue to express my creativity and thoughts on my other interests. For those of you who share similar interests, you can check out my site TheLawrenceChan.com
Due to the sheer volume of articles I have written about trading, many of which are trading related yet not technically in line with what DaytradingBias.com is offering, they have to be split from my blog into yet another site. Hence for my non-technical writings about trading, videos I have curated from various sources that I think are useful for traders and my reviews of trading related products, you can find them at the site Essence of Trading
The reason why I picked the Tai Chi picture above for this page is best explained by my article Tai Chi Traders in a World of Chaos at Essence of Trading.
Below are the old blog posts that were originally posted here. To avoid broken links from other sites, I have decided to keep them here.
Domain changes may affect access to Daytradingbias.com

I am moving the domain registrar from one company to another for daytradingbias.com.
The hosting service is staying the same though.
Disruption to access the site should be minimal.
Interesting Computer Equipment

I was working around the hospital today and guess what I found.
This cart is made by Ergotron with rechargable power supply at the base. It has this tiny LCD display down there showing the percentage backup power left. The whole idea is obviously making the computer available everywhere on the floor.
The cart itself is multiple times more expensive than the computer. =)
Toronto Heading Towards Megalopolis Status
2013 Mar 3 Sun 10:38:37 | by
Later this month (March 2013) Toronto is going to add more area codes to our already confusing basket of area codes.
Last time I checked, Toronto with its surrounding area has already surpassed 5 million in population.
At this rate, it will turn into a megalopolis in several years.
Yet our city planners have no idea how to deal with the growth at all.
Major traffic problems ahead!
Reviews Everywhere

A friendly advice from my friend who happens to be an ebook retailer executive that I should post my reviews to the ebook retailer sites. I am taking his advice seriously because I know he knows his stuff well.
So I am going to copy the summary of my reviews over to Amazon and possibly to other ebook retailers too. The good thing is that I can also post review of books that are not that suitable for the daytradingbias.com website. For example, reviews on teen novels I bought my kids probably should stay with Amazon.
Should be interesting to see how people react to my reviews.
Site Changes

Due to the way how Google search and Google plus work together, I have to list the articles on the site in some kind of static pages so that it is easier for Google to index the pages. I still do not understand fully whatever that means though. All I know is that my web guy has to separate the research article listings from the signal pages.
Now the signal pages are listed under the signals menu and the articles are listed under the research menu. It should not be difficult to navigate at all.
Hopefully this round of changes will be the last one for at least a few months.
Learned something new today. Google would not let you "claim" your authorship to the articles you publish online unless you have setup a Google plus account and somehow linking the content to your google plus profile. If you do not claim y …
For most traders, the trading computers are likely the centre piece of their lives. After all, the trading computers are the means to our income. But the trading machine is just a dead object. We humans are not. We cannot just glue to the computer a …

Last Friday Moody downgraded Cable after US stock market closed which led to a melt down within minutes. Making the situation worse, it was the last hour of the week that many traders like me always close their positions during this last hour. One ha …
