Echinacea Purpurea (Purple Coneflower)

By Lawrence

A very nice mosaic composition of the medicinal plant.

Although the Echinacea family of flowers are famous for its use to treat common cold and nasal congestion, it is not proven to be effective.

It is also sometimes used by cancer patients in heavy doses as a supplement to help relieve the side effects caused by chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

Personally, I am more interested in the fun fact department. This plant is named after the sea urchin in Greek, meaning that the plant was obviously discovered by people who love to consume large number of sea urchins.

Otherwise who would have associated the two things together?
